This past week was one of the most difficult weeks of my life.

Not because I faced some major personal failure at work, but because the mass shooting at Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando, forced me to think more deeply about everything I do: as a teacher, as an advocate, as a simple helper, and as a human being.

I mostly stopped everything for the entire week, and I’m still processing the events of last Sunday, June 12th—which is also my grandmother’s birthday, a day very close to my heart.

I’m sure you’re still processing, grieving, and trying to make sense of what happened.

Know that I’m with you.

Wishing you kindness and courage,
