I’ll never forget this moment…

Several years ago, I was at Boom Boom Room, a really chic nightclub at the top of the Standard Hotel in New York City. We’d just arrived from another party in an Uber SUV packed with a few other people I didn’t know.

I’d been sitting in the way back seat, belly laughing with my friends about stuff that only close friends laugh about, when a stranger sitting shotgun turned around and recognized me.

“Oh my God, you’re Jordan Bach! I can’t stand you!”

To say the least, I was taken aback. Usually people talk shit via the internet from the comfort and anonymity of their own homes, but now it was happening in realtime.

I remember pretending that it didn’t affect me and saying something cleverly disarming, like, “I can’t stand myself either! When you figure out a way to like me, please let me know, dude!”

The fact is, I was upset, and you’ll never guess what I did next.

“Can I buy you a drink?” I asked him.

He and his friends looked at me and laughed.

Why on Earth would I offer this hurtful person my time and money? Simply because at the time, as I share you with in the video above, I couldn’t deal with the idea of someone not liking me.

When someone makes it known that they don’t like us, we tend to want to either prove to them that they should like us or—a slightly different approach—say, “Fuck you, too!”

The simple question I asked myself in this video changed forever the way I deal with hurtful people and even the way I make choices in my everyday life concerning business and family.

Once you’ve watched, ask yourself these crucial questions:

  1. Which situations in the past do you wish you could do over?
  2. What would your ideal best friend have you do in those situations?
  3. How can you apply your ideal best friend’s guidance to your life right now?

At the end of the day, everything is going to be okay and you are a somewhat decent person if you’ve found yourself on this spiritual blog and read this far.

Here’s wishing you lots of love,
